Bible Study and Seasonal Programs

Bible study –  Offered to dive more deeply into the weekly Sunday service readings. Guided by our priest, the study is modeled on a Lectio Divina method, where participants prayerfully discuss the readings, exploring topics that arise. Participants journey together in their faith, encourage each other in the way of Christ, and support a sense of curiosity.

Seasonal Programs – Formation offerings throughout seasons such as Advent and Lent which may include: group discussion, book studies, meditation, interactive activities such as the clay nativity building, advent wreath making, and other gatherings.

  • Our current program is a Lenten prayer group beginning February 26.  Please form small prayer groups (4-5 people) and meet weekly with your group.
  • A Lenten children and youth prayer group is being offered on zoom, Tuesdays 3:15pm.  Please contact the office for zoom link to join.

Please contact the church office for more info regarding when these take place.

Service Ministries

If you are interested in being a part of our Choir, Altar Guild, Flower Guild, Greeters, or Street Ministry,  please contact the church office and they will connect you to the right leaders.

Outreach

Our current outreach project is a ministry to help send youth to the Diocesan Anglican Camp OAC in the summer. There are many who cannot afford to pay camp fees.  We are trying to support the youth by collecting refundable items such as cans, pop bottles, liquor, and wine bottles, anything that will give a refund. Please contact the church office if you are able to help with this.

Social Justice/ Development

Here at St. George, we partner with The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF). This is the Anglican Church of Canada’s agency for sustainable development and relief. With the support of Anglicans across Canada, PWRDF partners with organizations working to increase healthy pregnancies and births, reduce gender inequality, relieve hunger, and break the cycle of poverty in the world’s most vulnerable communities.

Truth and Reconciliation Ministry

At St. George, we acknowledge and give thanks for our worship on the traditional and unceded lands of the Syilx/Okanagan people. One of the things that excite us is a will to live into our commitments to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and we hope to find creative ways to do this in our community. Indigenous Ministries support the Indigenous Peoples of Canada (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) spiritually, socially, economically, and politically. We recognize that the purity of the land base provides for all our needs. As active participants in the life of the church, we strive for reconciliation with the Anglican Communion and work towards Indigenous self-determination.

Education for Ministry (EfM)

Education for Ministry (EfM) is a distance learning program of theological education for lay people. There are four years but participants commit for one year at a time, meeting in small groups for study and practice to aid them in discovering and nurturing their call to Christian service. EfM helps the faithful encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition and bring it into conversation with their experiences of the world as they study, worship, and engage in theological reflection together.
